BRIDGEPORT, Conn.—Bridgeport police say a 60-year-old woman has been charged with embezzling about $200,000 from a local automobile dealership.

Police say Anna Roberts of Prospect turned herself in to police after learning of a warrant for her arrest on a charge of first-degree larceny.

Officials say Roberts was controller of Key Auto Group when its owner became concerned that she had fallen behind in record keeping. He told police that when he confronted her about it, she admitted she had taken $149,000 worth of checks and about $50,000 in cash deposits.

Roberts was released on $25,000 bond after her arrest Wednesday, and is due in Bridgeport Superior Court for arraignment on March 2.

Information was not immediately available Saturday on whether she had an attorney.
