Wind turbine plan stalls

Planning Board members have agreed not to include on the May 14 Town Meeting warrant a zoning article allowing wind turbines. While not rejecting the idea out of hand, members have said the issue needs a closer look before any action is taken. After conducting a wind study for more than a year, the Kraft Group requested permission to raise a nearly 500-foot-tall turbine on its property on Route 1. But the local board voted last week to reject inclusion of the article this time around. Some residents of neighboring Norfolk and Walpole have complained about possible negative effects from the turbine and say it could lower property values.
