A Tour of Luckey Climbers
High and low, a playful body of work

In the early stages of this project, Tom Luckey focused his attention on the design and didn't think about how it would actually be built. As a result, "I just designed the wildest thing I could think of," he says. "I'll never do that craziness again." It's one of his more complicated structures. It's also one of his favorites. "It just radiates energy," he says, "all these pipes, umbrellas of cable coming down to them, all that beautiful wood." The structure went through extensive tests to ensure its safety. Now, Luckey says, "an elephant could climb around in that thing."
