For a time, it appeared Patty Smyth might become a household name, a regular chart-topper in the Pat Benatar mold. Her band, Scandal, didn't have a particularly unique sound, but Smyth, unlike so many of her '80s contemporaries, could sing, and did so with an entertaining sneer. (Full article: 818 words)
