REGARDING ''DOBSON turns spiritual empire into political clout" (Oct. 9): To read James Dobson talk about wanting to influence the political process just like everybody else is certainly disarming. But in the next breath he claims to base his views on absolute truth.
Dobson seems to forget that the purpose of democracy is to sort out the competing claims of relative truths. When one of the parties in a democratic process claims possession of absolute truth, debate is impossible. Jesus did not try to enforce his views through the law. He chose to change hearts instead.
