Kerry should resign from the Senate

BRIAN McGRORY'S childish attack on Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey ignored the facts: Senator John Kerry has failed to fulfill his responsibilities to the people of Massachusetts ("Healey found, ideals lost," City & Region). The lieutenant governor was simply stating the obvious: While he has been campaigning for president this year, Kerry has missed approximately 90 percent of the Senate's votes. Among the numerous votes the senator could not make the time for were the vote to extend unemployment benefits and the vote to ban partial birth abortions.

Senator Bob Dole resigned his seat in 1996 when he was running for president. Senator Kerry should do what is best for the people of Massachusetts and follow Dole's example.
