MONKTON, Vt.—The Vermont town of Monkton has picked a town flag to be dedicated on its 250th anniversary this summer.

The winning design picked at Town Meeting Day shows farm fields, mountains and ponds with hues of green, purple and blue. Voters decided on their top three designs.

Vermont Public Radio reports (http://bit.ly/HbqWFw) the flag was created by Mount Abraham Union High School art teacher Linda Reynolds.

Monkton residents will be able to order their own town flag for the anniversary celebration on June 24. The design will also be turned into a postmark for that day.
