PROVIDENCE, R.I.—A former Brown University student says in a lawsuit that he was expelled more than three years ago after being falsely accused of rape by the daughter of a major donor and fundraiser for the Ivy League school.

William McCormick says in a lawsuit unsealed in federal court Monday that university administrators gave him a one-way ticket home to Waukesha, Wis., after he was accused of rape in 2006. McCormick says the school never told law enforcement of the allegations.

A lawyer for Brown said in court Monday the lawsuit doesn't show any wrongdoing. The university declined comment, citing student confidentiality.

U.S. District Judge William Smith did not immediately rule on the university's motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

The Associated Press generally does not identify people who say they were sexually assaulted and is not naming the father to avoid identifying the woman.
