With WFNX leaving the dial, will 101.7 FM become a conservative talk station?

What, you ask, will replace WFNX 101.7 on the FM dial when the alternative station signs off in a few weeks? According to the Boston Phoenix—whose owner, the Phoenix Media/Communications Group, owned the station before selling it to Clear Channel Radio—it’ll become a bastion of right-wing talk. The Phoenix reports that Clear Channel plans to move its line-up of conservative yakkers—Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Jay Severin—from 1200 AM to 101.7 FM. (A Clear Channel spokesperson did not respond to messages Thursday.) According to documents released by the Federal Communications Commission, Phoenix Media/Communications Group sold WFNX 101.7 FM for $14.5 million. The FCC is expected to approve the sale shortly.
