An 8-year-old boy was rescued after he became trapped in a mud bog in Weston during a walk in the woods with a young girl, fire officials said.
The two children got caught in the mud at about 1:50 p.m. in the area behind The Cambridge School of Weston, said Weston Fire Lieutenant Justin Woodside.
The girl, who was 7 or 8 years old, was able to pull herself out of the bog, but the boy was immobile, in the muck up to his waist, said Woodside. He was stuck for 10 or 15 minutes before firefighters got to him. It took five minutes to pull him out of the sludge, Woodside said.
The boy was not taken to the hospital but was upset after the incident, according to Woodside.
The two children had walked from the boy’s nearby home, Woodside said.
