Two people were seriously injured this morning after being ejected from a truck that rolled over on Route 3 in Hingham, State Police said.
At 10:20 a.m., the truck, while traveling northbound, crossed over the median and rolled over, crashing on the southbound side of the highway, said Trooper Todd Nolan, a State Police spokesman. The cause of the incident was unknown.
The driver and a passenger in the ramp truck, which was carrying a car on the platform in back, were transported by ambulance to South Shore Hospital with injuries that were serious, but not considered to be life-threatening, Nolan said.
Both the northbound and southbound sides of the highway were closed briefly to allow for cleanup of the accident. At 11:30 a.m., the right travel lane of the southbound side was still closed, Nolan said.
Drivers should expect some delays, Nolan said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by State Police, Nolan said.
