Week’s weather to start fair, but turn foul for World Series opener

Get ready for a brrrr-eak in the weather. Two more relatively warm days are ahead before a cold front enters the region Tuesday afternoon, bringing widely scattered showers and a cold air mass. The week will see a mix of rain and sun, with high temperatures falling into the low 50s by Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

“The hiccup of the week will be the raw weather on Wednesday, which will see rain, clouds, and brisk winds,” said Charlie Foley, weather service meteorologist. “The rest of the week into the weekend will be pretty nice, and the sun will be out.”

Skies will be sunny today, with few clouds in the sky. Temperatures will rise into the upper 60s through the day before falling into the upper 40s overnight, according to the weather service. Skies will remain clear overnight, and a south wind will bring gusts up to 11 miles per hour.

Tuesday will be partly sunny, and scattered showers are likely after 2 p.m., though no significant rain is expected. Clouds will increase through the day into the night, and temperatures will climb near 70. Rain isn’t likely overnight, but clouds will persist.

Wednesday will see clouds, with daytime temperatures dropping to around 49. Rain is likely after 11 a.m., but no significant precipitation is likely for most of the day. Rain is unlikely to continue overnight, but temperatures will fall at night into the 30s, bringing frigid conditions to Fenway Park for Game One of the World Series, Foley said.

“Western Massachusetts could see some wet snow Wednesday night, but no accumulation is expected,” Foley said.

Thursday will return to mostly sunny skies, but temperatures will remain chilly in the low 50s. Rain is unlikely, and clouds will develop overnight. Nighttime temperatures will again fall into the upper 30s, according to the weather service.

Sunshine will continue Friday and Saturday, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures hovering around 50. Nighttime temperatures for Friday and Saturday will be in the mid-30s. Clouds will enter the region late Saturday, and Sunday will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers.
