A suspicious three-alarm fire in Braintree last night ravaged the rear of a single-family home on Liberty Street, fire officials said.
The fire broke out at about 9:05 p.m. at 1324 Liberty St. The blaze broke out in the garage, and spread to an adjacent addition to the house, said Braintree Fire Lieutenant J. Edward Bulger.
Firefighters spent about an hour fighting the fire, and estimated the damage around $150,000, Bulger said. The majority of the house was not burned, but received heavy smoke and heat damage.
Bulger said the fire had been deemed by investigators to be suspicious.
One resident suffered some minor burns to his hands and face, but was released from the hospital in a matter of hours, Bulger said.
“He attempted to put the fire out before we got there,” he said.
No other injuries were reported.
Quincy, Randolph, Holbrook, Avon, and Boston sent crews to assist in fighting the blaze, Bulger said.
