A Beverly woman woke up this weekend to find a stranger sleeping on her couch and her kitchen in disarray, police said.
The Glidden Street homeowner called police at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday when she found a young woman on her couch, said Sergeant Richard Russo.
The homeowner and officers woke the stranger, whose breath smelled of alcohol, Russo said.
The young woman woke confused, and said she didn’t remember entering the home. It appeared that she came in through a kitchen window, Russo said.
The kitchen was messy, with food strewn about, Russo said.
The woman was arrested for trespassing and bailed out over the weekend. She is to be arraigned later this week. The homeowner is not pressing any charges, Russo said.
