Woman struck by MBTA commuter rail train in Prides Crossing; investigation underway

A woman was fatally struck by a commuter train near South Thissell Street in Beverly’s Prides Crossing neighborhood this morning, the MBTA said.

The incident was reported at about 9:45 a.m., and Train 114, which was traveling from Rockport to North Station, Pesaturo said in an e-mail. The incident occurred on the tracks in a wooded area, not near a station or crossing.

The train’s 90 passengers will be transferred to another station while MBTA Transit Police investigate the crash, MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said.
