A man in his 40s was found dead on a Provincetown beach this morning, but no foul play is suspected at this point, said Michael Trudeau, first assistant district attorney for the Cape and the islands.
Provincetown police received a report of a body at the beach at about 6:40 a.m. from a person taking an early morning walk. The body was found near the Boatslip Resort, which is located at 161 Commercial St. The man was not a guest of the resort, according to a hotel manager.
Provincetown police and State Police detectives assigned to the Cape and islands district attorney’s office are investigating the death, Trudeau said.
The name of the man will not be released until his next of kin are notified, Trudeau said. An autopsy and toxicology report will be conducted by the state medical examiner’s office before a cause of death can be determined.
