Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino announced today that the city will begin staffing eight pools and one beach seven days a week in preparation for the end of the school year and a hot summer.
This is the first week during which the pools will be open all seven days. The hours for the pools will vary Monday through Saturday; opening and closing times are available on the city’s website. On Sundays, all the pools are open from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Menino said in a statement.
“With the warm weather on its way, we want our residents to be able to beat the heat seven days a week,” Menino said. “We have amazing facilities in the city, and I encourage all our families to take advantage of them.”
The following pools and beach will be open: The Blackstone Community Center pool in the South End, the Curtis Hall Community Center pool in Jamaica Plain, the Draper Pool in West Roxbury, the Flaherty Pool in Roslindale, the Holland Community Center pool in Dorchester, the Mason Pool in Roxbury, the Mildred Avenue Community Center in Mattapan, the Paris Street Community Center pool in East Boston, and Curley Beach in South Boston.
Two more pools, the outdoor Mirabella Pool in the North End and the outdoor Clougherty Pool in Dorchester, open Saturday.
