An elderly man died after crashing a sport utility vehicle on Interstate 495 in Lawrence Monday afternoon, State Police said.
Troopers responded to report of a single-vehicle crash involving a Honda CRV at 1:26 p.m., State Police said in a statement. It appeared that the man was alone and headed northbound when he lost control of the SUV and struck a guardrail south of exit 46, State Police said.
The man was taken to Lawrence General Hospital and pronounced dead. State Police have not released his identity pending family notification.
Troopers are investigating, including whether a medical event could have led to the driver losing control of the vehicle.
Two travel lanes were closed for about 20 minutes while troopers investigated the scene.
