Man charged with assault with hypodermic needle

A man who allegedly threatened to stab two people with a hypodermic needle at the Forest Hills Station Tuesday was arraigned in West Roxbury District Court today.

Jose Soler, 47, of Hyde Park was charged with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of assault with a hypodermic needle, said Jake Wark, spokesman for the office of Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.

Bail was set at $2,500, and Soler is due back in court for a probable cause hearing on Oct. 2, Wark said.

Transit police said two men, ages 19 and 20, gave Soler money to buy them alcohol. When Soler did not hold up his end of the bargain, the men attempted to get their money back.

Soler then allegedly stuck his arm with a needle, drew blood, and told the men to keep back because he had the AIDS virus, authorities said.
