A Milford man was found dead in his home today in what police called a homicide after receiving a tip that the man had overdosed, according to the Worcester district attorney’s office.
After an initial investigation, police determined that Jose Mendes, 45, was the victim of a homicide instead of an overdose, said Tim Connolly, a spokesman for Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Police received the tip when a man arrived at the Milford Police Department just before 9 a.m. and said that his friend had died of a drug overdose.
Police found Mendes’s body in the kitchen of his home at 322 Main St. Connolly said he could not describe the crime scene or disclose whether the district attorney’s office has any suspects.
However, Connolly said that Early had described the Milford home as a “tough scene.”
State Police were called in to assist in the investigation, which is ongoing, Connolly said.
