Time to celebrate! Design New Englandís March/April 2012 cover and corresponding story Almost Heaven were awarded Silver Awards of Achievement for photography from the Garden Writers Association. Our contributing photographer Lynn Karlin (who also won for cover photography in 2011), did the exceptional work. Her images of design maven Bunny Williams and her Connecticut garden won over the judges this year in both the magazine category and the cover categories.
GWA is a national non-profit organization that provides leadership and education for garden professionals. For more than 25 years, it has conducted an annual awards program for talent and products in the field of garden communications. All silver winners will be displayed at the associationís Annual Symposium in August in Quebec City, Canada, where the Gold Awards will be chosen from the finalists and the winners unveiled during a gala awards dinner.
In the excitement of this win, weíd like to share photographs Karlin captured during her visit with Williams that our editors did not run. (They will show you what a tough job we have deciding what to include and what to leave out! In our eyes, every one of Karlinís shots is a winner.)
Hereís to outstanding garden photography that captures natureís marvels and motivates creating beautiful outdoor spaces!
