"Work-life issues are gender-neutral: everyone wants a life outside of work," Fraone said. "If a co-worker realizes that you're working from 9 p.m. to midnight to catch up on work because you had to leave early to take care of something at home they may be more understanding of your situation. Instead of them just seeing you leave early, they will see that you are dedicated." And, Fraone said, if you are more understanding of your co-workers' work-life balance issues, they will likely be more understanding of your situation in return.
