Christine McSherry
When Christine McSherry's son Jett was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, or DMD, a fatal, progressive genetic disease that destroys muscle tissue and has no cure, she reacted like any parent and wondered what could be done. After this former registered nurse was told, "There's nothing you can do. There's no hope," she explained to The Boston Globe that she said to herself, "That's not true." So she and her husband, Stephen, founded the Jett Foundation to fund research on this disease that mostly affects boys and to seek out doctors who were aggressively treating the symptoms.
