Where to get your Twinkie fix in the Hub
We hunted around the Hub to find some Hostess-based treats and copycats that are still floating around post-Twinkie-apocalypse.
Get em while theyre hot: Au Chocolat in the Financial District told us they had limited quantities of their chocolate-covered Twinkies. Manager Ed Boyer wasnt sure of the fate of the product, which is obviously reliant on the Hostess cake, but encouraged us to head down there the ones theyve still got. We have about 30 left, he informed us. 35 High St., Boston, 617-737-1197.
In the delicious state of limbo: We called Faneuil Hall pub Anthem to check on the status of their signature fried Twinkies served with whipped cream and mixed berries (healthy, sort of?) and they assured us, Oh yes, they are! While the Twinkies are not made in house, they were not able to confirm whether or not the brand used is Hostess, so at least theres some hope yet? South Market Building, Faneuil Hall, Boston. 617-720-5570.
Forever and ever: Cupcake City in Reading has a fix for two Hostess favorites (pictured): the Twinkle, a Twinkie-like flavor in cupcake form, and the Hostess, a chocolate cupcake filled with marshmallow cream and topped with a layer of chocolate ganache. The Hostess is part of the regular menu and while the Twinkle only makes special appearances in the case, Cupcake City assured us theyre well aware of boxed bake good shortage and would be happy to make a batch upon request for those with a craving. 137 Main Street, Reading, 781-944-0400.
