So you thought you could cook

gordonramsay.jpg How about inviting this chef to taste your food? Gordon Ramsay, as you know, does not mince words. At least not on "Hell's Kitchen" or "Kitchen Nightmares." His Brit wit is cutting. He screams insults and yet the reviewers seem to like it.

Now the producers of "The Biggest Loser" are starting another Gordon Ramsay show with the working title of MasterChef. It launched in England and was a hit. You have to cook for a hobby and have no restaurant experience in order to qualify. Professional chefs are not welcome.

Whip up your favorite dish (what on earth does an aspiring contestant make for something like this?) and contact masterchefcastingboston@yahoo.com to see if you're welcome in the first round on Jan. 10 in Newton Highlands.

If you don't get in, consider yourself saved from a few rounds of browbeating.

The Recipe Box Project:

If you want to contribute a recipe to The Recipe Box Project, please write it below. Also tell us where you got it (package box, cookbook, mom, friend -- include the name). We're looking for the kinds of dishes that people grew up on, that were served at family suppers, that tell a story, that are typically New England, or that you brought with you from a far away place to New England. We will print one of the recipes in the Food section once a month. To ask any questions, write to Debra Samuels, who is overseeing this project, at recipebox@globe.com. To discuss your recipes, click here.
