It's our first official contest here on 99 Bottles. Exciting stuff. I've got two pairs of tickets to give away for the Portland Brew Festival, which takes place Labor Day Weekend (Aug. 31 and Sept. 1) in Portland, Maine. I love Portland, having gone to school at nearby Bates College. Colby grads need not enter this contest (OK that's not true, all are welcome).

The festival looks great: 30-plus New England breweries, 75-plus beers, three sessions (Fri. night, Sat. afternoon, Sat. night), and three event halls. The Old Port is nearby, so your Portland beer adventure doesn't have to stop at the festival. You can see a list of all the brewers and vendors here.

Here's the contest: E-mail me no more than 50 words on your favorite Maine beer. Tell me why it's your favorite, and keep to the word limit. I'll pick the two best (it's my discretion, I wish I could give away more tickets) and send the two winners the information they need to get the tickets. You choose the session. Entries must be received by Thursday (Aug. 9) at noon. Also please enter only if you are able to use the tickets on Labor Day weekend. If you can't go but want to chime in on your favorite Maine beer anyway, do it in the comments section below.

That's it. Good luck everyone. My favorite Maine beer, in two words, is Allagash Dubbel.

E-mail me (gdzen@boston.com) and start a conversation. Follow me on Twitter. Cheers.
