Answer: Captain Parker’s Clam Chowder. Question: What soup is such a perennial favorite that it’s been featured as a Jeopardy clue? The chowder was created by Gerry Manning for his West Yarmouth restaurant, Captain Parker’s Pub, and has won all the big chowder contests. In 2010, the Food Network named it New England’s best. Until recently, the briny ambrosia was found only at the restaurant, but this spring, Manning launched Captain Parker’s Chowder Co. to sell to dozens of delis, restaurants, and stores, including six Shaw’s locations on the Cape. The farthest north it has traveled is Extreme Pita in Norwell, but Manning says he hopes to “put a dent in the Boston market’’ by fall. He attributes the chowder’s success to his method. “We take great pride in how we make the chowder.’’ Sure sounds like a winner. Available at Shaw’s locations in Orleans, Hyannis, Yarmouth, Harwich, Falmouth.
