The Effie’s Homemade ladies have done it again. Owners Joan MacIsaac and Irene Costello, who launched their Hyde Park-based company in 2007, first made oatcakes, now they’ve come out with corncakes ($5.99 for 7.6-ounce package). The 2-by-3-inch crackers will be as familiar to Italians who love cornmeal crumiri cookies as they are to Rhode Islanders raised on johnnycakes. Made with masa and cornmeal, and lightly flavored with anise, Effie’s Homemade Corncakes are crunchy and a little sweet, the perfect platform for soft chevre topped with a thin slice of fresh stone fruit (try local Bolton peaches roasted until tender) or figs or berries. Available at A. Russo & Sons, 560 Pleasant St., Watertown, 617-923-1500; Milton Fruit Center Marketplace, 110 Antwerp St., Milton, 617-698-2165; City Feed & Supply, 672 Centre St., 617-524-1700 and 66A Boylston St., 617-524-1657, both in Jamaica Plain; and Foodies Boston, 1421 Washington St., Boston, 617-266-9911, or go to www.effieshomemade.com.
