Skirts expand the possibilities.
Though no one’s writing off narrow pencil skirts, short and full styles are making fashion headlines. “Even though they’re not fitted, there’s still something sexy about getting a swish when you walk,” says Boston designer Sam Mendoza, known for his charming party frocks. Add a tulle petticoat, and it’s tutu wonderful for words. Short, full skirts are also a great way to refresh edgier pieces like a leather motorcycle jacket or boxy cropped top, says Mendoza. “Just make sure you emphasize a contrasting cinched waist.” As seen here around town, the trend has already spread far and wide.
