BLACK, BLUE, AND GREEN
It may be a sign of the times that we've been getting more e-mails labeled "Deal of the Week." Armani Exchange recently began sending them out to its subscribers, as has the Davis Square boutique Black & Blues (89 Holland St., Somerville, 617-628-0046, www.blackandbluesboutique.com). In honor of St. Patty's Day, the store will be offering 20 percent off any green item in the store from Monday until Sunday, March 22. Springy tops by Michael Stars, Free People, and Kensie, beads, and necklaces are some of the store's green finds.

DRESSING UP IN DOWN TIMES
We've heard that when the economy is down, people dress up, which perhaps explains the abundance of sales on men's suits we've noticed recently. Until Sunday, Jos. A. Bank is offering 50 percent off its signature suits (and 60 percent off if you buy a second). The suits, in tan, navy, gray, and black, are originally $595-$1,095. Jos. A. Bank locations include 399 Boylston St., Boston, 617-536-5050; 84 State St., Boston, 617-742-5861; and 120 Highland Ave., Needham, 781-444-2658. www.josbank.com

ON THE GOOD FOOT
Winter's last gasp can mean superb deals on lingering cold-weather stock. Case in point: Cuoio, where winter boots are 50-75 percent off. At the Newbury Street store, we found sexy Donald J Pliner Western boots for $399.99 (down from $750), a curious pair of Michael Kors heeled flannel rubber booties ($119.99), and Aquatalia waterproof boots. There are also good deals on stylish warm-weather shoes, including last summer's Donald J Pliner, Thierry Rabotin, and Taryn Rose. Cuoio is at 115 Newbury St., 617-859-0636; 170 Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Boston, 617-742-4486; and 26 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead, 781-631-0100.

HIGH-END CONSIGNMENT
We're always grateful when readers bring to our attention shops we might not have found on our own. Such is the case with Fiddleheads (120 Washington St., Canton, 781-828-9444, www.fiddleheads.biz), a consignment shop that specializes in higher-end furnishings and jewelry. Its current stock includes Christian Dior costume earrings for $45; Tiffany & Co. sterling silver earrings for $175; a down sofa in toile fabric from Century Furniture for $499; a funky 1960s pink swivel chair for $33. The store also carries vintage Louis Vuitton luggage, vintage linens, and Minton antique plates.

LOOKING GOOD
If your weakness isn't clothes, but rather, cosmetics, check out the stock of new Royal Effem makeup at Ardan MedSpa + Salon (72 Central St., Wellesley, 781-235-7788, www.ardanspa.com). Spend $50 on Royal Effem goods (worn by models on the Gucci, Alberta Ferretti, and Custo Barcelona runways) and get a complimentary makeover, valued at $65. Not a bad prelude, perhaps, to a night on the town.
