You have three kids, but every time I see you, you look incredibly well put together. What's you're secret? I get a lot of inspiration from my kids because they're astute and critical and I need to look good whenever I'm with them. But I've been a total clothes horse my whole life.
Who inspires your style? I really like people who push the envelope. My style muses are Stella Tennant, Selma Blair, and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. I love Selma Blair because she has a dark edge to her. I like rock 'n' roll style, but I hate anything that's derivative. I like Gwen Stefani, but I'm not such a big fan of Fergie. I love Christopher Bailey and the whole new Burberry look. But then I really like intellectual style too. I've always loved the Diana Vreelands of the world.
What are some of your favorite stores here in Boston? My favorite little boutique is Dress, because it's really well-edited. I like Stel's as well. I love Barneys. What can I say? I'm a total Barneys fan. I love Good on Charles Street. Sometimes I wander into Gretta Luxe.
Do you find that you're inspired by the style you see in Boston, or does it tend to be too safe for your tastes? I've never been particularly challenged or inspired in terms of style here. On the other hand, I really respect the consistency in Boston. Even though I wish it was more challenging from a style perspective, it's reliable and consistent. It's based in the history of the city, and I respect that a lot.
