Great yellow coat. Where's it from? The Victoria's Secret catalog. It's a fun color.

What's it like to be in the spotlight every day? Growing up, I never wore makeup - well, maybe a little makeup under my eyes. I didn't have a blow-dryer until college. I'd put my wet hair in a ponytail and go out. I didn't wear heels until junior year of college. I'd put my Doc Martens on and thought I looked great. Now, I have to be stylish and be neutral at the same time. What I'm wearing can't detract from the news content, which can be challenging.

How would you describe your style? I have a style, more than I have style. I don't pay attention to trends. I just walk in the store and find what looks good on me. . . . I love color and I like things that look artsy. I usually wear a piece of Indian jewelry.

Where do you shop? I shop all over the place. I don't have a set routine. I love the Filene's Basement on Newbury Street. There are treasures there. It's not as scary as the Downtown Crossing one where you'd dive into a bin and come up with a coat and a sweat sock. I also shop at H&M, Express, French Connection . . . Betsey Johnson for fun party and wedding dresses.

What do you splurge on? Makeup, because I have to wear so much on my face. It's totally, totally worth splurging on makeup that will last all day. When I'm running around, covering fires, or car crashes, or someone's personal tragedy, makeup is the last thing I'm thinking about. I also splurge on warm clothes. I hate being cold when I'm out reporting. I want a coat I can wear during a blizzard when snow's up to my waist.

Are you guilty of any past fashion faux pas? Absolutely, without a doubt. My mom got me pleated jeans that were tapered so you could see my socks in middle school. She said they looked nice.
