In the spirit of the holiday and in solidarity with the Occupy movement, student protestors dressed as zombies walked out of class and through downtown, from the Common to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, yesterday.
“This rally is a youthful expression of our intolerance for injustice,” Lesley University student Karen Briggs said to BU's The Daily Free Press. “Occupy Boston has become known for being more serious and getting right down to the issues, but this march shows we can have a fun side, while remaining earnest about those issues most important to us.”
A "die-in" staged at the Fed's doors led to a brief building lockdown "out of an abundance of caution," bank spokesman Tom Lavelle told The Boston Globe.
“This is for the lost life of democracy and the death of long lost minds, bodies, and souls,” protester Casey Herz said during a "vigil," according to The Metro. “We are victims of a system that continues to work against the 99 percent.”
