As the second-most popular website (after Facebook, of course) on the internet today, YouTube has wormed its way into our lives by creating a plethora of pop culture phenomenons. The Numa-Numa Guy, Double Rainbow Dude, and Antoine Dodson all rose to fame through the site.

YouTube makes it easy to find top videos and the most-viewed channels, but if you're looking for video creators from your hometown, you'll have to dig a little more. Here are five YouTubers you might not have realized were from Boston.

JennaMarbles. Known in real life as Jenna Mourey, the YouTube comedian rose to fame after her video "How to trick people into thinking you're good looking" went viral last year. As of this month, that "tutorial" had over 25 million views, and Mourey's channel has over 1.1. million subscribers. The Rochester, N.Y., native and Suffolk University grad is unafraid to express herself and tells it like it is in her vlogs about everyday experiences. Although YouTube restricts access to some of her videos due to language and content that's inappropriate for younger audiences, her uninhibited nature is part of her charm.

VenetianPrincessBrockton native Jodie Riveria, a.k.a. VenetianPrincess, specializes in music video parodies with a professional look and humorous lyrics. From 2008 to 2010, she was the most subscribed to female on YouTube. Rivera has produced videos for MTV and Universal. Fun fact: She also had a small part in the 1993 Disney movie Hocus Pocus.

Karmin. Guitarist and singer Amy Heidemann and pianist Nick Noonan -- a now-engaged couple -- met at Berklee and took to YouTube to show off their original material and their knack for covers. Their simple, acoustic versions of popular songs are a refreshing change from the music so many radio stations are playing, and Heidemann can rap with the best of them. They'll have a shot at offline success when they release their first album next winter.

Ahmir. This Boston-based band is the #1 R&B group on YouTube. Originally known as One Love, Ahmir’s four members -- Big Mike, Mr. Jones, Sing Sing, and KC -- create beautiful harmonies, like in their reproduction of Bruno Mars’ "Just The Way You Are." They have appeared on 106 & Park and America’s Got Talent and recently signed with Robbins Entertainment.

Aziatix. This trio is fairly new -- they created their page about six months ago -- but they're rapidly gaining fans with their R&B, hip-hop, and pop sounds. Members Eddie Shin (he's the one from Boston), JayPak, and Nicky Lee are talented musicians with rich vocals and solid rapping abilities. They're also great writers, too: Shin composed “Be With You” for their album Nocturnal, which debuted in the top 10 on the iTunes R&B/Soul chart.

Who are some of your favorite Boston-based YouTubers?
