Harvard Square's Curious George Store gets dressed up for Food Day 2012.

Tons of awesome events come across our desks each week. Make It Boston is how we'll share our favorite ways to get out, get crafty, and make things in and around Boston.

You may have heard: October 24 is Food Day. Created in the spirit of its sister holiday, Earth Day, Food Day is a nationwide movement for healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. Because we love eating real here at DIY Boston, we're sharing why food matters and where you can celebrate this delicious holiday in Massachusetts.

Food Day

Started in 2011, Food Day's goals are to:
Promote safer, healthier diets
Support sustainable and organic farms
Reduce hunger
Reform factory farms to protect the environment and farm animals
Support fair working conditions for food and farm workers

Want to celebrate Food Day in Massachusetts? Here are some of our favorite events going on this week:

General Assembly's Connected Food
Today 10/23, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Workbar Cambridge
Cambridge, MA

Join a who's who of food and tech entrepreneurs, including the founders of LevelUp, Cuppow, and Boston Organics, for a discussion on how technology affects food production and distribution.
