If, like a good New Englander, you're abandoning the city this weekend in search of apple picking, hot cider doughnuts, and caramel apples, consider adding a legendary Lexington farm stand to your itinerary for a chance to pick up some free DIY skills along with your autumnal bounty.
Tomorrow and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm, the expert floral designers at Wilson Farm will be offering free customer demos on how to create "easy, gorgeous arrangements with flowers, pumpkins, even veggies," according to their Facebook page.
Bring the kids for a chance to visit Wilson Farm's resident llama, Belle, plus a gaggle of hens and roosters. Who knows: you just might bump into Lynne Wilson herself and be able to pick her brain about urban farming while you're in the neighborhood.
Wilson Farm, 10 Pleasant Street Lexington, MA 02421 (just off Route 2 West). More at WilsonFarm.com.
