Wondering what to do with that old sweater that's shrunk, pilled, or just doesn't fit anymore? Use it to keep those gams warm during the frosty months: make leg warmers in well under 5 minutes!
Take your sweater, and cut off the sleeves along the seam. You're done. You can stop right there. Seriously. Of course, you can fold down the cut edge and sew, add an elastic, or decorate with trim or ribbon, but those are are all extra credit.
My sweater's sleeves were attached on the bias. My new leg warmers are taller on one side than the other, which is perfect for wearing under skirts for keeping knees extra toasty.
If you want leg warmers that stand up, make sure to pick a sweater that's a bit shrunken or has some elasticity. If you prefer them to be loose and slouchy, choose one with a larger, roomier sleeve.
