HOLIDAY ON THE HILL If you’re looking for something to do this evening, you might want to hit the Beacon Hill Holiday Stroll, happening from 5 to 9. Along with carolers, brass bands, and horse and buggy rides on Charles Street, some of the shops will be offering discounts, drinks, and snacks. At Crush (131 Charles St., Boston, 617-720-0010, www.shopcrushboutique.com), take 10 percent off an item of your choosing; at Moxie (51 Charles St., Boston, 617-557-9991, www.moxieboston.com), get 10 percent off a full-price item and shop its fall sale (lots of shoes and boots marked down 30 percent); at Flat of the Hill (60 Charles St., Boston, 617-619-9977, www.flatofthehill.com) find bags by Kooba, Botkier, and Rebecca Minkoff marked down 30 percent. See the Bargain Bin blog (www.boston.com/bargainbin) for more details.

TWILIGHT DEALS North End boutique Twilight is offering markdowns on accessories through Sunday: Take 15 percent off when you buy one; 20 percent off when you buy two; or 30 percent off if you buy three or more. The store launches a different deal next week: Buy a sweater or jacket and get a free pair of Blings, pretty Swarovski crystal stud earrings by Boston-based JoJo Loves You. (That deal ends Dec. 19.) Twilight is at 12 Fleet St., Boston, 617-523-8008.

BARNEYS’ WINTER SALE Barneys New York has begun its winter sale, with select clothing, shoes, and accessories marked down up to 40 percent. On our visit to the Copley Place store, pickings were still good, with plenty of finds from Jil Sander, Dries Van Noten, Paul Smith, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and others. We recommend getting in soon. Barneys is at Copley Place, Boston, 617-385-3300 and The Mall at Chestnut Hill, 617-969-5354. www.barneys.com

SALEM CELEBRATES THE SEASON If you’re closer to Salem, some of the downtown businesses will be hosting a holiday shopping event tonight from 6 to 9. A partial list of deals: Crunchy Granola Baby (72 Washington St., Salem, 978-741-0800, www.crunchygranolababy.net) is offering 15 percent off storewide, plus hot chocolate and treats; Modern Millie (103 Washington St., Salem, 978-745-0231, www.modernmillieshop.com) is offering 15 percent off purchases of up to $99 and 20 percent off purchases of $100 or more; J. Mode (17 Front St., Salem, 978-744-7007, www.jmodefashions.com) is offering a free copy of the book “Crave Boston: The Urban Girl’s Manifesto’’ with purchases of $50 or more (full-price items), along with 20-50 percent off select fall and winter items. Shoppers can enter a drawing to win a gift basket filled with goodies from the shops. Pictured: Items at Crunchy Granola Baby.

A SHINY GEM If you’re on the hunt for stocking stuffers, you may want to check out the simply named Jewelry Outlet Store, which is filled with fun pieces (multi-strand necklaces, chunky rings, lots of beads) at very low prices (there’s a lot in the $3-$12-range; some are discontinued styles or overstocked items). The store also carries sterling silver pieces, which, naturally, cost more, but are still affordable. It’s open every day until Dec. 24; starting Jan. 6, it will be open Thursday through Saturday. The store is at 332 Second Ave., Waltham, 781-890-0167. www.jewelryoutletwaltham.com
