Jacoby Ellsbury set a new Red Sox' single-season record for stolen bases this year by eclipsing the mark of 54 set by Tommy Harper in 1973. The Red Sox, as a team, have stolen more bases than ever in recent years. Historically, the team has had more success with home runs as compared to the rest of Major League Baseball. Here is a look at stolen bases and home runs per game for the past four decades, comparing the Red Sox to the rest of the league.
