Game Day at dawn. We wake up nice and early to set up for our community event! It was so nice to admire the lit-up EMC Club and Citgo sign in the early morning light.
Grommet Garage and Community Hack Bar. The playground is set up! Anyone can play with a Grommet by browsing the gallery of hacks or going up to the hack bar to get hands-on.
Setting the stage. The event is off to a start with our emcee, Boston Globe’s Scott Kirsner! The cofounders of The Grommet, Jules Pieri and Joanne Domeniconi, open the event, followed by fireside chats and the eight finalists’ product pitches -- all streamed on the Fenway Park jumbotron!
Post-pitches and onto the panels. The eight finalists -- four from ready for crowdfunding and four from ready for market -- have pitched the judges. We break for lunch and sit down to panels on launching products, technology for Makers, and product design innovation. Meanwhile, the judges are deliberating...
Drumroll. The judges have cast their votes. And the winners are… O-Rings by Increment and Compost Shredder by Ecotonix! Congratulations!

Caroline hails from a tiny tropical island originally, but calls Boston home. A curious bird, she spent a spring trekking all over Ireland, has been an Air Force Junior ROTC cadet, and worked at Disney World as a merchandising intern. With a love for all things interesting, she found herself at The Grommet, where she gets to eat, sleep, and breathe innovative undiscovered products. Say hello to her on Twitter.
