Today's post is in collaboration with Soo Jin, a Boston College rising senior and The Grommet intern, who's been thinking about packing for back to school. She presents some of her finds in preparation for the hustle and bustle on campus.

Decorating a dorm room is not just the best part of back-to-school prep; it is also incredibly important as it exposes a college student to the critical judgment of his or her new friends and visitors. That includes the crush with whom things have been left hanging since before the summer break.

While “Life Manifesto” or “Avicii” posters might establish minimal credibility among a young lad or lady’s circles, creating a stylish ambience will let everyone know at a glance who is the one with taste. For less than $60, the following gems will make any young scholar ever the more interesting. Let the conversations begin.

1. OontZ

Bring the bass into your space without blowing your allowance. Initiate the next impromptu rave in your crib with the mini Bluetooth speaker. This sleek toy comes in nine different colors and has a battery life to last all night.

2. Holdster + Cuppow

“Usabilify” your mason jar by donning it with a leather handle and a to-go lid. Don’t worry about burning your hand with your caffeine boost of choice in the morning. Plus, your new drink accessory is eco-friendly, travel-friendly, BPA-free, and made in the USA.

3. Cord Buddy

Minimize cord-induced mess in your life and maximize space and time. Cord Buddy tames your cords and keeps them from slipping under your desk.

4. Herschel Supply Co. Heritage Backpack

This backpack exemplifies the minimalist ideal - style plus practicality. Pull all the pockets you don’t need, then showcase your quirks from a variety of design choices. This pack has all the space you need for a laptop or tablet.

5. Toffee Talk

Feed your sweet cravings with this tin of gourmet treats. Late-night snacking doesn’t always have to be about ramen noodles and pizza.

Are you shopping for back to school already? What's on your list?
