Remember when Lifetime’s reality docu-series “A Baby Story,” actually made couples excited to one day embark on the same journey?

Well, the network’s newest baby-related reality endeavor is a far cry (literally) from the conventional comforts of birthing indoors.

Lifetime recently announced that it is launching a new reality TV series called “Born in the Wild,” which will follow women who choose to give birth in nature, Entertainment Weekly reports.

"What happens when the craziest experience of a woman's life becomes truly wild, and soon-to-be parents decide to take on an unassisted birth in the outdoors?" asks the press release. "Born in the Wild will document the journeys of young, expectant parents who have chosen to give birth 'in the wild.'"

According to Lifetime, the series will feature healthy mothers who have already had a baby at least once in a conventional birth setting, but who may not have been satisfied with their experience. While they will reportedly attempt birthing without professional medical assistance, the show will have emergency personnel on hand in case of complications. The location they choose for their births will also be in close proximity of a hospital.

The series is reportedly inspired by a YouTube video that has garnered more than 20 million views, showing a mother who gave birth to her fourth child outdoors.

So, what exactly does this show prove?

Do women who decide to give birth near a creek deserve more “street cred” than those who choose to deliver under a roof? Is one location really more “natural” than another?

We might argue that having a film crew and producers on hand to record the experience negates the whole ‘natural’ part, but that’s up to the viewer to decide.
