NBC — you’ve started a trend.
Fox is delving into the live musical game with a three-hour production of “Grease” next year, following closely in NBC’s footsteps after the rival network garnered 18.5 million viewers with its live production of “The Sound of Music” last year.
Dubbed “Grease Live,” the production will run for three hours (longer than the typical weekly primetime span of two hours) on a TBA date in 2015.
“From Broadway to film, and across generations, ‘Grease’ is one of the most beloved musical stories ever told – and we can’t wait to bring it to our air in a spectacular live event,” Shana C. Waterman, Senior Vice President of Event Series for FOX, said in a statement.
No word yet on who will star in the production. Who can you picture as a modern-day Sandy and Danny? What about Rizzo and Kenickie? Fill us in via the comments.
