Decades later, a Mopar-edition Challenger

A Mopar special edition seems so obvious that you have to wonder why Chrysler or the departed Plymouth didn’t come up with one of these special editions 30 years ago.

Mopar is the parts and accessories arm of Chrysler, but the Mopar nickname always was associated with the company’s many brands and racing efforts, especially the No. 43 Richard Petty cars that once dominated NASCAR.

So better late than never that the Mopar ’10 Dodge Challenger edition will hit dealerships in August with pricing starting at $38,000 for an automatic transmission and $39,000 for a manual.

2010-Dodge-Challenger-Mopar-shifter.jpgThe car has a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8, hood-venting, cold-air intake, and both front and rear strut-tower braces. It comes in black with a choice of blue, red, or silver side stripes and matching baseball-style stitching on the steering wheel and interior.

Exterior features include 20-inch gloss-black wheels, black-chromed grille surround, and vented hood with vintage hood pins.

Nostalgia fans will love the Mopar shift handles (T-style for automatics, pistol grip for manuals).

Each car will come with an owner kit with VIN, build date, and build numbers.
