The Internet has spoken, and apparently it really likes Chevy.

As winners of the first-ever Internet Car and Truck of the Year award, announced today at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show, the Chevrolet Equinox and Camaro took top honors in both journalist and reader categories. A panel of 12 online automotive journalists named the Equinox and Mazda 3 as winners, while online readers -- who casted more than 50,000 votes on -- chose the Equinox and Camaro.

Dan Roth, a Boston-area writer for Autoblog and AOL Autos, said the Equinox was a "clear signal of General Motors' newfound realization that it not only needs great products, it needs the right great products."

"It's just the right size and has great performance," said analyst Lauren Fix of the Mazda 3. "It comes standard with all the available bells and whistles and it’s really edgy looking."

John Neff, editor in chief of Autoblog, was also named during the presentation as Internet Automotive Journalist of the Year.
