It was practically a steal.
A Back Bay parking spot sold at an auction on Wednesday for $125,000. Auctioneer Michael Saperstein declined to name the buyer, who requested anonymity.
The spot is located behind residences located at 349 Marlborough St. Bidders were advised before the sale that spot is tandem and the owner would have to share vehicle keys with the person who owns the other parking space.
Parking spots in the Back Bay have been selling for prices that rival the cost of buying a single-family home in Massachusetts.
Tandem parking spots located behind 298 Commonwealth Ave. sold for $560,000 in June. A space behind 48 Commonwealth Ave. set the record for a single spot at $300,000 in 2009. Two tandem spots a block from the Public Garden on Commonwealth Avenue sold for $200,000 in the summer of 2012, and a single spot on Marlborough Street went for $250,000 in December.
