Ocean Spray is teaming up with a Rhode Island gelato and sorbet producer to introduce a new line of frozen treats to grocery aisles this summer.
The company’s four all-natural gelato flavors and five sorbets are co-branded with Roba Dolce Inc. and available in East Coast stores now. Nationwide distribution is expected later this year.
The desserts, such as the Honey Fig Cream gelato and Blackberry Cabernet sorbet, are Ocean Spray’s first dive into the frozen food aisle.
The retail price range $3.99 to $4.49, with introductory specials running frequently, including a two-for-$7 promotion.
In the Greater Boston area, consumers may purchase the new products at Shaw’s, Big Y, and Met Food Markets.
The cooperative, based in Lakeville and Middleborough, has an 80-year history in juice products and is owned by more than 700 American cranberry and grapefruit growers.
Ocean Spray posted gross sales of $2.2 billion and net proceeds of $338 million last year. Roba Dolce was founded in 2005 and provides its gelato and sorbet products to supermarkets across the country.
