The Hot & Spicy Breakfast Sandwich includes a spicy omelet featuring jalapeno peppers, red bell peppers, and pepper jack cheese with habanero, served with two slices of bacon and a slice of white cheddar cheese on a plain bagel, said Dunkin’, a Canton-based coffee-and-baked-goods chain.

And for those who prefer a lighter offering, there’s the Hot & Spicy Wake-Up Wrap, which includes one-half of the spicy omelet, served with one slice of bacon, and a slice of white cheddar cheese on a flour tortilla. Both are available through August at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide, the company said.

On the summer hydration front, Dunkin’ is also offering the Raspberry Lime Coolatta frozen beverage for a limited time.

At Dunkin’ Brands, the chain’s parent company, Stan Frankenthaler wears two hats. When not sporting the toque blanche of executive chef, he is also the vice president of product innovation.

In a statement, Frankenthaler offered his take on the chain’s new seasonal food items.

‘‘We always take feedback from our guests into consideration as we develop new menu items to suit their needs and taste preferences,” he said. “We’ve learned that our guests are seeking bold flavors, including heat and spice, so we’re excited to be able to introduce the new Hot & Spicy Breakfast Sandwich and Wake-Up Wrap to our guests, building on this trend of a spicier flavor profile, during the hottest month of the year!’’
