The Citizens Bank Foundation, the nonprofit outpost of Citizens Financial Group Inc., said Friday it will give $210,000 in five Massachusetts nonprofits that promote and teach financial literacy.
Recipients include Interise, a nonprofit aimed at growing small businesses; uAspire, an organization focused on college affordability; the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts; Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts; and Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts.
The funding is part of the Rhode Island-based bank’s new program to provide onprofits across 12 states with $2 million in support, according to the company.
“We believe this investment will certainly make a difference in helping adults and young people in Massachusetts learn to make smart decisions when it comes to personal and business finances,” said Jerry Sargent, president of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens, Massachusetts, in a statement.
Boston-based Interise, which will receive $50,000, said the money will fund StreetWise MBA, a program that helps business owners expand their knowledge of financial management, strategic planning, and business development though a nine-month curriculum.
