The festival plans to screen nearly 100 films from around the world in such local venues as the Somerville Theater, Coolidge Corner in Brookline, and Brattle Theater in Cambridge, Rockland Trust said. The festival will open on April 24 at the Somerville Theater with a screening of “The Spectacular Now” starring Kyle Chandler and directed by James Ponsoldt, who will be in attendance on Opening Night. The festival is scheduled to run from April 24 to April 30.
This year’s festival includes feature-length and short films, documentaries, animated films, panel discussions with filmmakers, and opportunities to meet visiting producers and actors.
“At Rockland Trust we’ve had a long-standing commitment to actively partnering with our communities and supporting local organizations,” Christopher Oddleifson, president and chief executive of Rockland Trust, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to continue that commitment in our new communities by joining forces with the Independent Film Festival Boston, one of the area’s signature events.”
